It examines the fundamental data of the physics of mixture and its role in the development of Neoplatonic philosophy. The text distinguishes between three types of mixtures in Aristotelian and Stoic physics and highlights the Stoic doctrine of total mixture as a new starting point that influenced the development of Neoplatonic metaphysics. The Stoic theory of total mixture allowed the Stoics to explain how the divine agent (Logos) is present in the material universe. The text concludes by discussing how the Stoic doctrine of total mixture was transposed to the realm of immaterial and non-corporeal realities within Neoplatonism.
